Alima Khatun of Pailita village, Birbhum has been doing Kantha at home since the age of 14 years, drawing inspiration from Kalabhavan, Santiniketan. She is the recipient of many awards from the State and District levels. She has won the National award for excellence in Kantha work in 1988.

She is training about two thousand girls under a government scheme. Her work is innovative and outstanding in terms of craftsmanship.
