M. Satyanarayana, Andhra Pradesh : Satyanarayana comes from Warangal. Weaving has been in his family for six generations. They used to weave textiles for the royal household. In return, they received land where they lived. Some years ago, Satyanarayana branched out into weaving cotton dhurries.
A few years ago, he experimented with printing his plain-woven dhurries in Kalamkari natural-dye prints and though one can see similar ones in the market, his Kalamkari Dhurries are unique. He presents an exotic range of dhurries in cotton and jute. He keeps innovating and experimenting on new designs and techniques in dhurries. He has passed on his weaving expertise to his sons who are currently learning the craft.
