ac is a resinous substance secreted by a female insect on the twigs
and branches of the soapberry and acacia tree.
This
substance is collected and crushed into powder and then made into small square cakes.
A basic mixture of shellac, soapstone and resin is melted together on a
small coal fire and different dyes are gradually added. The mixture is kept soft on the
coals while turning out various articles like bracelets,
bangles, beads, little trinkets and toys.
