ipli is a small village between Bhubaneshwar and Puri in Orissa and is renowned for its brightly  coloured  applique work. 
   

Pilgrims  coming to visit the Jagannath temple stop at Pipli to buy banners as offerings to the temple gods as well as small canopies for their domestic deities and for festivals. Pipliwork is supplied to monastic houses for their religious processions. In recent times, Pipliwork is used in making cushion covers and bedspreads.
